Laura E. Burrows serves as the Owner of The Law Office of Laura E. Burrows, LLC. Laura focuses her practice on all aspects of family law matters and provides the highest standard of service to her clients through effective communication, research, writing, and advocacy skills. Recognizing that her clients are facing difficult transitions, Laura concentrates on promoting solutions to all domestic matters, whether through mediation, collaborative law, negotiating settlements, or if necessary, advocating as a fierce trial-attorney. Laura takes a holistic approach to resolving disputes, and is dedicated to helping her clients achieve quality results in a cost-effective manner.
Laura has advanced training and certifications in Collaborative Law, as a Child’s Attorney, Parent Coordination, and as a Divorce Mediator. Laura offers individual mediation as well as co-mediation services with her Husband Eric Haviland. Laura was named by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021.
Laura is a native of Atlanta, Georgia and earned her undergraduate degree from Emory University. She earned her law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law. Laura currently lives in Severna Park with Eric, their sons Charlie and William, and their two dogs, Landon and Luther.

Eric A. Haviland serves as the Managing Partner of the Law Office of Laura E. Burrows, LLC, and the QDRO Center. In addition to managing the firm and the QDRO Center, Eric's legal practice is diverse and focuses on litigation, mediation and on the preparation of Domestic Relations Orders and the division of retirement assets arising out of a divorce. Eric’s deep knowledge of issues related to state and federal taxation, Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, healthcare, division of retirement assets, and family law, provides him with the foundation to guide his clients through the most complex cases.
Eric believes in the value of Alternative Dispute Resolution, and he works to assist his clients in resolving disputes outside of the court room. He provides individual mediation services, as well as co-mediation with Laura. When parties reach resolutions, Eric prepares Parenting Agreements, Interim Agreements, and Marital Settlement Agreements, which can be incorporated into a Court Order.
Eric and Laura live in Severna Park where they are the proud parents of Charlie and William, and devoted owners to their two dogs, Luther and Landon.
Rose J. Heltsley serves as Office Manager and Paralegal with the Law Office of Laura E. Burrows, LLC. Rose is a native of Ithaca, New York and earned her Bachelor’s degree from The Pennsylvania State University. In her role with the firm, Rose assists with client service and communication, as well as management of the Annapolis office. She lives in Columbia with her fiance Ryan and their two dogs, Oliver and Bane.
