Laura Burrows

Laura E. Burrows serves as the Owner of The Law Office of Laura E. Burrows, LLC. Laura focuses her practice on all aspects of family law matters and provides the highest standard of service to her clients through effective communication, research, writing, and advocacy skills. Recognizing that her clients are facing difficult transitions, Laura concentrates on promoting solutions to all domestic matters, whether through mediation, collaborative law, negotiating settlements, or if necessary, advocating as a fierce trial-attorney. Laura takes a holistic approach to resolving disputes, and is dedicated to helping her clients achieve quality results in a cost-effective manner.


Laura has advanced training and certifications in Collaborative Law, as a Child’s Attorney, Parent Coordination, and as a Divorce Mediator. Laura offers individual mediation as well as co-mediation services with her Husband Eric Haviland. Laura was named by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019.


Laura is a native of Atlanta, Georgia and earned her undergraduate degree from Emory University. She earned her law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law. Laura currently lives in Severna Park with Eric, their son Charlie, and their two dogs, Landon and Luther.

Eric A. Haviland, Esq.

Eric Haviland

Eric A. Haviland serves as the Managing Partner of the Law Office of Laura E. Burrows, LLC, and the QDRO Center. In addition to managing the firm and the QDRO Center, Eric's legal practice is diverse and focuses on litigation, mediation and on the preparation of Domestic Relations Orders and the division of retirement assets arising out of a divorce. Eric’s deep knowledge of issues related to state and federal taxation, Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, healthcare, division of retirement assets, and family law, provides him with the foundation to guide his clients through the most complex cases.


Eric believes in the value of Alternative Dispute Resolution, and he works to assist his clients in resolving disputes outside of the court room. He provides individual mediation services, as well as co-mediation with Laura. When parties reach resolutions, Eric prepares Parenting Agreements, Interim Agreements, and Marital Settlement Agreements, which can be incorporated into a Court Order. 


Eric and Laura live in Severna Park where they are the proud parents of Charlie and devoted owners to their two dogs Luther and Landon.

Nathan Volke

Nathan E. Volke, Esquire is a Senior Associate at The Law Office of Laura E. Burrows, LLC. A native of Anne Arundel County, Maryland, Nathan provides proactive and attentive representation to his clients and is a determined, effective and passionate advocate. Nathan was named as a Maryland Super Lawyers, Rising Star for 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019.


Nathan’s practice focuses on all family law, custody and matrimonial matters including: Divorce; Child Custody; Child Support; Guardianship; Adoption; and Protective Orders. Nathan seeks effective solutions for clients working within the constraints of their budget to achieve the best outcome possible. That is influenced by Nathan's previous work in many other areas of law including real estate, bankruptcy, criminal and contract law. However, if settlement is not an option or not working, Nathan has the experience and knowledge to aggressively take your case to trial and achieve your objectives in court. 


Nathan currently lives with his family in Pasadena.

Michelle E. Kelly, Esq.

Michelle Kelly

Michelle E. Kelly is an Associate Attorney at The Law Office of Laura E. Burrows, LLC. Michelle assists her clients through separation and divorce, custody arrangements, support matters and property division, relocation cases and protective orders. Michelle recognizes the emotional impact that family law issues may have on clients and she assists them in establishing and reaching their long-term goals. 


Prior to joining The Law Office of Laura E. Burrows, LLC, Michelle served as the Law Clerk to the Honorable Philip S. Jackson with the Circuit Court for Baltimore City. Michelle earned her undergraduate degree in History from the University of Maryland, College Park and her law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law.


Michelle was born and raised in Montgomery County. She currently lives in Annapolis with her fiancé and dog, Sophie.

Lauren M. Bonanni Bettis, Esq.

Lauren Bonnani Bettis

Lauren M. Bonanni Bettis is an Associate Attorney at The Law Office of Laura E. Burrows, LLC who brings the benefit of a diverse professional background to each client experience. Her practice focuses on the division of retirement assets through drafting Qualified Domestic Relations Orders and by facilitating retirement plan acceptance. She also centers her legal services on assisting clients through divorce and custody proceedings and negotiating Marital Settlement Agreements. After spending many years in contract drafting, negotiations and review, Lauren particularly enjoys her role as a family law attorney because of her ability to positively impact the stability and well-being of a family during a difficult and challenging time.

   

Prior to joining The Law Office of Laura E. Burrows, LLC, Lauren worked in the telecommunications industry, as well as, a prominent local law firm where she gained valuable experience practicing primarily in land use and zoning law. Lauren’s background has taught her the importance of attention to detail, thorough analysis, and how to develop creative solutions to meet the goals of each individual client. 


Lauren is a native of Anne Arundel County, Maryland where she attended St. Mary’s High School in Annapolis.  She continued her education at King's College where she was a four-year varsity member of the women’s basketball team. Lauren currently lives in the Annapolis area with her family.

Rose J. Heltsley serves as Office Manager and Paralegal with the Law Office of Laura E. Burrows, LLC. Rose is a native of Ithaca, New York and earned her Bachelor’s degree from The Pennsylvania State University. In her role with the firm, Rose assists with client service and communication, as well as management of both the Baltimore and Annapolis offices.
